Work Permits and DP.10

Foreign workers must comply with Malaysian laws to attain proper visas and work permits. Malaysian employers are expected to sponsor their employees and secure their working rights with the appropriate working permits.

For an employer to sponsor an employee for work in Malaysia, there are a number of requirements that must be met. Employers should be aware of restrictions on hiring foreign employees, such as limiting hiring to manufacturing, construction, plantation, agricultural and services sectors.

Employment of foreign workers are also subjected to quota requirements from the Ministry of Home Affairs. The employee must hold a relevant work permit and visa to enter Malaysia.

DP.10 – Expatriate Posts & Professional Passes

A PVP is a permit that allows a foreign national to work in Malaysia or attend/conduct training in Malaysia (without earning from Malaysia) for a period of 1 day up to 1 year.

If the applicant has entered Malaysia using Visit Pass (social), the applicant must complete form IM.38 and pay the necessary processing fee of RM500 for the conversion of the pass status and the visa fee according to the fixed rate base on country. The process of producing Visit Pass (Professional) sticker is on the same day.

Note: Applicant must be outside Malaysia at the time of application.
